THE CREATIVE SPARK

The magic of the candle flame, the warmth of summer’s sun
The comfort of the winter hearth, the booming of the gun!
The drums of war, the clash of minds, the changing of the guard,
The beauty of the many Arts, the poems of the Bard.

The Elemental King of Fire beckons me, “Come near!”
He has so many stories that he wishes me to hear.
The hours slip past unnoticed as he spins his magic tales
Of fiery confrontations brought about by angry males.

And then in jubilation he recalls another time
As the fire of the Spirit gave mankind the gift of Rhyme.
To this some added music or images to show
The meaning of the words they wrote, to give an added glow!

To such as I who never knew her soul could yield such fruit
These stories of creation left me feeling strangely mute …
Oh what I wouldn’t give to share their talents to delight
And much to my great joy it began for me one night!

As I tossed and turned in Moonlight, with sleep so far away
I picked up pen and paper and let the Goddess have her say.
She spoke to me of Mother Earth; her Beauty and her Pain,
The latter gone unnoticed, the former used for gain.

She begged of me, her Daughter, to once again take stock
And then to spread her warning amongst her wayward flock.
With deep regret, I realized I too was one of these
And vowed that from this moment on my ignorance would cease!

It wasn’t till much later I realized what had come to pass …
The creative fire in my soul had shown itself at last.
Thanks to Djinn, the King of Fire, who came to waken me
I found within my Spirit dwelt creative energy.

Though constantly bombarded with news of war and strife,
The magic of the Art gives new meaning to my life.
From deep within my core comes a truth they try to quell
That we have the power within us to ensure that all is well!

If through my poems I can spread this truth throughout the Land,
Then I will rest in peace when I must leave this world of man.
For now I sense my Destiny was always down this path;
Thanks to my fiery mentor I’ve set foot on it at last!
