HELLO
With a feather-light touch
he introduces himself;
Neither Deity nor Human
but a mythical Elf.
Full of mischief and laughter
he brightens my life;
Though he’s usually harmless
he can cause lots of strife.
He’s a creature of Light
who is driven insane
by those who find pleasure
in causing great pain.
I watch in amusement
as they mysteriously slip;
though they cannot see him,
he created their trip.
His mischievous laughter
brings a smile to my face;
I too find solace in
their swift fall from grace.
He’s decided he likes me
though I’ve no idea why;
only leaving my side when
a full moon lights our sky.
For the Faerie folk gather
in the still of the night,
when mankind is sleeping
so they won’t get a fright.
They dwell deep in the forests
that we plunder each day;
soon these magical creatures
will all fade away.
Though most humans are ignorant
of their presence on earth,
they’re the Guardians of Nature;
of birth and rebirth.
When he leaves me I’ll miss him,
he has brought me great joy;
this spirit of nature,
both wild and coy.
