another long leg …..well considering my snail’s pace LOL

Good evening,
I was not planning on blogging quite so soon again however the day has been quite eventful, filled with so much beauty as I continued to wander around in my gypsy home with the dog that has rapidly come to love gypsying with me lol…

I did stop in the small town of Mallacoota to get some more supplies at their local IGA and I wanted to go to the hardware store for those tent pegs and guy ropes to help hold down the awning if we had any nasty we left Mallawinds along the way lol… I also needed to drop into the chemist to refill an important prescription of mine.. well I cannot find the script lol however I did talk to the chemist about that horrible headache and earache. He too thought it was a possible infection due to the water, much like swimmers ear. The whole left hand side of my head felt like it had been used as a football yesterday though it was more a dull ache this morn. Anyways the chemist fixed me up with some suitable non drowsy pain killers and just two of those this morn did the job well for I have been on the road for most of the day with no recurrence thankfully.

Now I wanted to go back out to the Princes Highway but by a happy (blonde) coincidence I went the wrong way and we ended up pulling up beside a little beach called Betka Beach. There was a lovely little park with a playground for kids and a picnic area for everyone. I was still in pain so I thought it prudent to park awhile and take my new painkillers with some water, then maybe sit in the shade awhile and wait for them to kick in. Well I didn’t quite do that. I did take the painkillers but on my way to the public loo I spied a coastal walk. That would be great to take Alex along, I thought, and I know being surrounded by the trees and sea does wonders for my health.
I popped Alex on a lead, for it is required on this path, and we set off to explore. I never had to struggle up any hill, my overenthusiastic pup dragged me up.. I didn’t mind though, save my energy I thought lol.

Once we started walking I felt myself relaxing a little; the further in I got the more engrossed in the beautiful lookouts and earthy starkness of the surrounding trees. Stark they were, no leaves for the most part; just grey and bare and yet… they had their own beauty and I felt once again the magical mystery pulling me into my own beauty that dwells within as it always has done for me. We walked along the ‘coastal walk’, stopping to read the plaques and so I could do my usual happy snapping. My proper camera had been left in the car this time so I used my phone’s one instead. I doubt the pics will show the contrasts in the surroundings but they will suffice; their texture and colours, their contrasts and harmony live on in my spirit now rejuvenated by their healing presence 🙂

We must have spent over an hour there meeting up with more than a few new and very friendly beings, both human and furred; reluctantly Alex and I climbed back in the motorhome and began our way back to Mallacoota where I had decided I would now fill up my motorhome and then get back on track lol.

I wasnt sure where I would have lunch, when coota properly it would have been around 11:45AM, just that little bit too early. I decided to drive and let the mood decide for me … turned out Cann River was the place to pull over… I decided to treat myself to a latte at a little cafe there and oh my a beautiful but totally forbidden gluten riddled orange muffin! Mmmmmmmm worth it though lol.. I felt so decadent and the joyful mood I had been in all day just went up another notch lol…

I spent about an hour there; not much to see but it was lovely to just wander around and play tourist. Once again Alex and I made new friends; he with two Maltese terriers and a beagle, me with three couples, one of which were in love with my motorhome lol.. they were lovely and when I mentioned the meaning for me of the name of her (True Blue) and the fact that for me it isnt about where you are born but a state of being within that I named her after, they not only loved it but wished me the happiest trip. I had to laugh when the lady said she hoped I found a millionaire on my journey. I replied he would have to have more going for him than just money to be the right partner for me! We both walked away giggling, her hubby enjoying the retort too! Now they were english by birth but True Blue by nature in my book; friendly, open and generous enough in spirit to be able to wish for another’s happiness so spontaneously. Something I have noticed seems to be a dying ability in a world where its all about ‘me’ and ‘what I own’. I have to say this journey is bringing back my faith in others.

I was going to stop off at a free camp but I felt good and so decided to put some miles behind me. Its a beautiful road, the traffic was light and polite as opposed to yesterday so the going was relatively easy..and my head was not hurting! Yayyyyyy lol… only one jarring instant and a reminder for me I think.

I had pulled off behind another caravan thinking it might be a good place to relax for a little, maybe have a bit of dinner. A white car came to a screeching halt alongside the rest area but still near the road and I noticed he was staring at me. I didn’t like it so I quickly locked my door and watched. In the meantime the caravan pulled out and this guy in the white car got out and came over. I cracked my window a bit and waited. He asked me if I had been filling up in Bega yesterday.. I said yes and I recognised his face. I almost relaxed but something inside me warned me not to; I think it was his body language that made me wary. Anyway he stood there staring at me and I decided to take the bull by the horns. I asked him if he knew of any caravan parks close as where I was now was not safe lol. He took the hint, said he didn’t and as I closed my window with a politely dismissive goodbye he retreated to his car and took off. You know I only think I am being friendly when I talk to people, I have gotten myself in trouble that way before. I just thought as I got older that would go away.It doesn’t and that was a timely reminder.

Nothing happened and I am sure he was not sinister so much as hoping he could umm how shall we say… pick up an easy lay :s ..Sadly I will be less friendly in future …all in all a wonderful day though and if anything my love of travel, especially this way, has only grown. Well thats it for now… be safe all and most of all be happy 🙂
