At last I am set for my big trip :)
Gday! After promising myself, and you, that I would not have these long absences anymore I did it again! In my defence I have been very busy putting the finishing touches to my beloved motorhome in readiness for my great adventure down to, and over, the Great Ocean Road along the south coast of Victoria. I have been lucky enough to have found a professional spray painter who, though no longer working his trade, was kind enough to offer me a professional job for …ohhhh say ten to twelve thousand cheaper than it would have cost. I have been truly blessed in my quest to make her as close to my dream as I can possibly do without running out of money for my trip. I love her new ‘coat’. She rocks both inside and out now lol.
Its been touch and go but I have managed to do it without compromising Joshua’s well being or schooling. My daughter is going to have Josh stay with her and Alex, my beautiful almost fourteen month old Kelpie/Smithfield cross and I are off adventuring on Valentine’s Day.. yayyyyyy what a fantastic way to celebrate a day dedicated to love. I will most certainly be doing what my heart yearns to do so the date I set seemed totally appropriate.
I have also given her a name but if you don’t mind, for now I intend to keep that to myself bar a few very close friends. It has meaning in more ways than one as it depicts who my dad was in life as well as suiting my motorhome down to the ground.
We have used her for picnics in the meantime; my daughter, her hubby and my grandies joining Josh, Alex and I for a great picnic on Christmas day down by the river under some beautiful old trees and surrounded by other happy families, all taking advantage of the beautiful weather to celebrate the aussie way.
We all had so much fun we did it again on Australia Day! In between I have taken her down to the river to keep cool in the heat waves that have determinedly dogged most of Australia’s days this summer. Mind you we do live in a sunburnt country and we even have a poem penned by Dorothy MacKellar to prove it is the way of our land!
So the date is set and the majority of the work is done to her, at least all I really need to be done except for the flyscreens which I am making and putting on this weekend. My lovely friends, Marie and Colin, who are coming along for the fun surprised me by changing their plans mid stream. Instead of staying at caravan parks and/or motels along the way, they bought themselves a camper van and now we are going to travel in tandem.I can’t wait, it sounds like so much fun. We have been busy discovering both the paid and free campsites that may be possible stop over points along the way. I had no idea how many there are; lots of them with electricity and showers etc. Now neither myself nor Marie and Colin will need the showers as we have them ourselves but it will be lovely to be able to charge up my laptop and continue my blogging as I go. I also intend to upload some pics along the way so keep an eye on this space.
Well thats it for tonight.. more to come as I continue my preparations. I can promise you I will most definitely keep you all up to date when my journey begins. It feels already to me like I have so many souls coming along for the ride though it may only be in spirit. Blessings my friends, may your nights be serene, your days be filled with the magic of living.
