24th December, 2014

Its the eve of deception that we celebrate
As the words of the priest cloak fear and hate.
The words of the prophet no longer a part
Of the sermon to honour His compassionate heart.
The flora and fauna are part of your clan
Thrown out of these teachings by modern man.
What price be the ignorance, greed and hate?
Extinction for all, a terrible fate!
Who cares what we call this particular day?
If the motive’s self serving we’ve all lost our way.
Look at the souls who have given so much;
You’ll find its the animals, flora and such.
Who lays at your feet or purrs in your ear?
Who offers their lives so you eat each year?
Begin with a prayer of thanks every day
For the gifts freely given by nature and fae
Now remember you come from that same loving stock;
Stand not on the sidelines; join the rest of this flock.
The leafy, the feathered, the furred and the finned;
Elementals of earth, water, fire and wind.
To each do we owe our chance to survive.
Despite our denials, we know this is right.
