A week of play and magical meet ups

G’day, I am a little late but I tend to pop in when the energy feels right. Today is that day, thanks to a gentle afternoon and a cooling breeze. Not sure how the weather has been for all of you but its been sweltering for the most part as I meandered around some favourite spots on the Mid North Coast of NSW. I might not have gone far since last I posted, but the days still seem to have been packed with lots of happenings, both good and not so good. Lets get started with some of the good.

I have been blessed to have had some of my clients book in for another reading, keeping me busy and connected with the spirit world as well as our own.Β  In amongst it all, my gorgeous Jack Russell, who you will hear lots about in my blogs, and I have managed some wonderful catch ups with new friends and old. The weather has been hot but there have thankfully been a lot of lovely places to hide away from the worst of it; where river or ocean breezes came to play our favourite haunts…. or just a breezy part of town when I have had to visit shops or make time of friends who are in non-movable homes, unlike mine lol. That is one of my most favourite things about living in a home on wheels… No matter where or how often I roam, I have my comforts and necessities close at hand. No cursing because ‘I left something behind’…..my way of living also offers those magical, unexpected meetings that I alluded to in the title of this week’s blog πŸ™‚ I have been chatted to by a gorgeous Eastern Rosella as I rested up from an unexpected mishap in Woolworths (which I will tell you all about in the less than fun section lol) while Frankie was dozing beneath my camp chair in the shade. He of course was completely unaware of the gorgeous creature who had come to steal my attention away.

The Rosella didn’t seem to mind my presence, even when I fidgeted around trying to get comfortable …. nor did he fly away when I got up to get my camera! Personally, I reckon he was hoping I would show him the proper adulation, his vividly colourful plumage on display as heΒ  strutted his stuff on the fence. Shyly at first, he edged a little closer, whistling softly to me. I decided I would whistle back at him as I videoed him for my Facebook friends, much to his displeasure. He promptly turned his back on me… lol everyone’s a critic it seems, my efforts going unappreciated. However he didn’t leave and continued to share my space companionably for awhile longer. Later on, he even popped down on the ground and drank from a puddle conveniently placed not far from my chair πŸ™‚ Frankie meanwhile seemed to be oblivious still to his presence. If you ask me, Frankie was studiously ignoring this pretty but pesky interloper in the hopes he would just go away πŸ™‚

The next day, my knee feeling so much better, I decided a trip to nearby Mylestom… particularly its beautiful beach … was in order. The heat wasn’t going away and Frankie needed a change of scenery since I was not able to walk him very far at that stage. My reward from Mother Nature was a huge flock of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos noisily making their way across to their favourite roosts for the night. I was thrilled to see them but was grumbling to myself for missing such a wonderful opportunity to capture their beauty with my Canon… once again I was out and about without my trusty Canon, not even my phone on me as I took Frankie for a brief walk. Oh well. I sighed and just enjoyed their beautiful formation as they flew low overhead. Fate was smiling on me though. When I was almost in the door of my bus I heard the unmistakable cry of another one. I dashed in and got my camera, so excited but also apprehensive about missing out again …. not this time. I did get a great photo of the Cockatoo flying my way and then, to my surprise, it roosted in a tree reasonably close! I gently moved closer… it watched me coming warily … and as I did I briefly stopped to take a quick pic here and there just in case. I knew he was beginning to get a bit edgy and he was calling to his flock, so I realised he was close to taking off. I stopped then, took a couple of photos and retreated. I might have missed out on snapping a photo of the flock but was happy nonetheless with what I had.

Over the next few days, Frankie and I divided our time between Coffs Harbour, Mylestom and Urunga as we dodged the worst of the heat. I saw many lovely sights, including one bitter-sweet sight of a mated pair of ducks with only one young duckling. Usually they have quite a few but this mated pair had most likely lost the rest of their brood to predators. I know its Nature’s way but so sad to witness. I watched how wary they were and how they needed that shady tree I had my eye on and took Frankie inside to give them peace of mind. The windows and door was open, as well as the vent so we were not without the cool breeze and the view was divine. Having the little family resting nearby was a bonus I was only too happy to sacrifice for. Frankie didn’t seem to mind since he loves the comfort of sleeping on my bed.

The icing on the cake for me nature – wise, was on a day outing in Port Macquarie. The park I usually gravitated to near the Marina was full up with vehicles by the time I got there though, thanks to there being a market on by the river so I drove us to a park I remembered visiting months ago as I waited for the new fan for my motor. I parked on the left, thinking they might be playing footy there as it was a Saturday.  After lunch, the sun had completely taken over so I decided to pop over that side and park in the shade of the trees.

As I was observing where I wanted to park, I noticed something sitting in the crook of a branch of one of the trees. I thought… that looks like a Koala and then shook my head. I thought it was just wishful thinking but as I pulled up, I could see it clearly. It was a Koala, whats more it didn’t seem to be worried about my presence at all.. just continued to laze in the same spot. After looking me over, he (I discovered later it was a boy) obviously decided all was good. Even after I carefully took Frankie out for a pee, he didn’t seem to worry. I did take a short video of him, knowing full well the photos I had gotten wouldn’t be put up on my page anytime soon. One of the reasons this blog took so long is I am not keen about working on my laptop in the heat. Like the Koala, lazing away the day seemed to hold more appeal for me and my dog. After a bit he began to chew on some gum leaves… yes it was a gum tree… and you guessed, it the camera came out yet again LOL. I felt so honoured to be spending the afternoon with him.  As the day grew to a close, he began to grunt, hoping to hear an answering scream from a nearby female bless him. Thats when I discovered my Koala companion as a he….Mother Nature has sure pulled all the stops to soothe this woman’s frazzled nerves and for that I am so very grateful.

Now for the not so good and it will make you laugh. I dont mind, I would have laughed too if I hadn’t been so shocked lol. Anyway the only not so good thing of true note was when I decided to pop into Woolworths for a couple of salads. It was going to be another hot one. The thought of cooking was pure anathema for me. All was well until I left the last aisle and headed towards the cash register area. I had grabbed a trolley on my way in, even though I only needed a couple of things. I remember laughing at my action, it was purely automatic and I did contemplate putting it back and grabbing a basket. I decided not to waste time and continued with the trolley. Thank the Goddess I did, it saved me from a much worse fate, of that there is no doubt. You see as I walked purposefully towards the exit’s cash registers, my mind on getting back to my shaded bus and my little mate, my right foot suddenly slid out from under me. My left foot seemed stuck in place and I slowly but surely began to do a unplanned rendition of the splits lol… I was so shocked. There was nothing I could do to prevent it. The only thing I had to hold onto was the trolley and somehow I managed to land on my left knee. My right leg was now extended out in front. All I could do was go with it, collapsing on the floor when I came to a halt. I laugh now but I was actually in shock at the time. A lovely man rushed over, asking if I was alright. Well embarrassed and in shock but that was it, I told him. He offered to help me up but I assured him I could get up. Nope, that wasn’t happening lol… I think the shock had turned my legs to jelly. They absolutely refused to obey my mental command to move! He helped me to get to my feet and refused to leave until I began to put one foot in front of the other, showing him I could walk fine.

My knee was a bit bloody, the bruising was already showing up and it burned! I didn’t tell him that of course. I drove back to my night time park straight away though. I knew if I left it, there was a chance I would not be able to drive back. Then I constantly sprayed Magnesium oil on it and on my left thigh muscle that had decided to join in with its own complaint. It could have been so much worse though. The fact that there was water on the floor and there was no warning by way of a sign, even though a worker had been aware of it, is something I hope doesn’t happen again. What if it had been a frail, elderly person? Without that trolley I would never have been able to right myself enough to avoid a worse fate. Funny how things work out.  I am all good now though, happily driving around, catching up with people who colour my world, spoil my boy with love and support me in so many ways. Well that’s if for now. I hope I at least managed to give you all a good laugh <3
