to continue at last …..
Hello, hello!
Given my predisposal to playing hookey from blogging, it will come as no surprise to you lovelies that I have done it again. I guess the song, “Girls just wanna have fun” by Cyndi Lauper covers it this trip lol.
Anyway the last time I blogged I was catching up with a very special person in my life and his mum, stepdad and step brother and sister :)The timing could not have been better as it was around birthday time and this reunion was a wish I had unconsciously made, though I didn’t admit that to myself until it happened. Too painful to contemplate it not coming true; like most of us there is a child inside who dreads being hurt again.
Anyway, all worked out well and I ended up spending around ten days in their company. I was treated to some of the most beautiful scenery, able to play tourist and snap pics without the worry of negotiating the steep hills and impatient traffic. My birthday was a lovely day, filled with nature (thanks to being taken to the Gorge Wildlife Park close by), laughter and love.
The rest of the time was taken up with catching up in so many ways that no doubt would bore you if I babbled on so I won’t lol. Eventually my restlessness forced me to insist I get back on the road. I didn’t want to overstay my welcome either, though they all reassured me that wasn’t happening. Finally, with a promise of returning for a day or so on my way back to home base in a couple of months, I left for Victor Harbour on the coastline. I had heard it was a great place to see whales and other wild creatures who inhabited the oceans that flowed from the Atlantic.
I didn’t leave until very late; one last day out with my grandson a promise I was loath to deny him. After all he had taken me to so many places, including a day out in Rundle Mall and a day at The Big Rocking Horse in Gumeracha and the Maritime Museum in Mannum, Port Adelaide… So many happy memories but I did say I wouldn’t waffle. Suffice it to say if you get a chance to visit the Adelaide Hills and Adelaide itself, take it! You wont be sorry. The scenery, people and places to visit (family especially for me) all combined to make it a special experience I will always treasure.
By the time I got into Victor Harbour, exhausted from the constant push by other traffic and the dreaded night blindness I suffer making it painful to endure the glare on the winding hills that must be traversed to reach my target, I was exhausted and just wanted to pull over somewhere for a long and peaceful sleep. I was passing a petrol station and my tired eyes fastened on what appeared to be a extremely large parking space out the back. I was past it before I knew it, made the decision to do a U-turn when safe and headed back. I really didn’t want to go on any further and my gut was insisting this was the right move.
