OFFERING

The power of nature can help us forget,
she offers her service from dawn till sunset.
The first rays of sunshine always delight,
their shimmering hues are a magical sight.

I’m lucky enough to live by the sea,
nurtured by beauty so wild and free.
The roar of the ocean as it rushes in
soothes any turmoil I’m feeling within.

The smell of seaweed and salt in the air,
as playful breezes tousle my hair;
the feel of the sand massaging my feet
are all conspiring to make my mood sweet.

Sometimes I see the dolphins at play,
it seems to me nothing can ruin my day.
It’s almost the time when the whales migrate,
birthing the babies they made with their mate.

Oh, there’s the Osprey who hunts for his prey,
flying ever so briefly beside me each day.
Sometimes we both stop and show our respect
to the fragile environment man must protect.

I swear he can hear my thoughts as I roam,
at peace in the splendour of his natural home.
He knows I’m a friend who wishes no harm,
only wanting to share in nature’s charm.

As I finally depart to tackle my tasks
I pass by the place where a serpent now basks.
He’s laying full length and blocking my way
a powerful reminder to take care today.

I take one last look at the sparkling, blue sea
and wish in my heart that my spirit was free
to join in the sweetness that nature brings,
for more than an hour as my inner child sings.

The serpent moves over and lets me pass,
winding its way through the long grass.
Now with the chores I must keep my date,
communing with nature sadly must wait!
