Back on deck… sorta LOL :)

hello there, I am back 😛 well mostly anyways. I don’t know how you all have been faring re the internet but mine has been playing silly buggers :s I thought maybe as I am on prepaid while travelling I had lost my gigs again but nope because I would not be able to publish this one if that was the case lol….

Now let me see. I have been very remiss when blogging in my last two ones. There was so much more to those five days at the Stone the Crows Festival! I wish I could put it all down in here but the finger nor the memory is good enough for that right now hahaha…

Lets just say that I have some of my happiest memories of travelling regarding people from both that festival and the last few days in Gundagai. I have made another couple of friends from free camping near the river at Gundagai and, between them, they reminded me of just what a very lucky woman I am, should I need it 🙂 Yep, I did cut my finger and yep, I hate needles so the ensuing couple of hours was both painful and a tad scary for moi but!!! I am reasonably fit, healthy and do not need to live near a large hospital just in case; which is what my latest friends have to do.

They are a lovely couple, married twenty years and both on their second marriage… oh boy are they a great example of what a true marriage filled with love is all about 🙂 Neither of them is well. He has fought cancer in several forms the last few years… prostate, lung and leukemia to name three :s … she has had Crohn’s disease since she was 38, much like another beautiful friend of mine :s… Yes, the last couple of years have made her anxious as she helplessly watched her beloved husband battle over and over for his life but she never lost faith. She suffers with bouts of depression here and there but really who could blame her? They never had any children of their own.. well she could not sadly.. but they have a lot of young people who have adopted them as if they were theirs 🙂 Ahh shows how loving they are for children do not choose lightly …

anyway I found to my delight she is also a poet and a bloody good one at that! The second night we were camped there together (I had already been there a day lol nursing my finger, big wooze that I am :P), I was invited over to have evening drinks with them. Well for obvious reasons I did not feel I should drink right now so I asked if a coffee would suffice? hehehe keeps me up all night so its a rugged enough one for me right now 😛 .. now where was I? Oh yes that’s right. Yvonne, that’s her name, mentioned she was something of a poet, had had one actually read out on the John Laws show; she has quite a few that are less than flattering to Julia Gillard but then again it would not be an easy job to flatter someone who willingly back stabbed her colleague and so called friend .. hmm I wont get started on that for politics can ruin any good mood LOL.. anyway I was both surprised and thrilled, letting her know I too wrote poetry.

She went inside her motorhome to get her stuff while I retired to mine briefly to get my smart phone.. gotta love that I can pull up my poetry site on there and if I turn it sideways I can read it pretty easily to boot!

We drank and read out our poems to one another in turn, both delighting in the magic and beauty of each other’s stuff. I was very quick to suggest that they come to the festival next easter. The poetry she wrote was just what they loved there I told her; she would fit right in, might even win it! That’s how good she is I tell you 🙂
We both decided to leave on the same day though I went a tad earlier than they did. Oh I must say too before I leave Gundagai behind here,it is one of the friendliest places I have struck. Its also very pretty so it was no true hardship to spend a few days there though my plan had been to only spend a night lol… funny how in hindsight a plan gone wrong can turn out to be so right eh? Thank you nasty cut, you gave me the opportunity to meet more friends, one who is very much into the same sort of things I am and both off the land and down to earth…had I not stayed due to the stitches I would have missed them. I will see them again though for funnily enough they are looking to move to Coffs or close by so I will put out enquiries in the hopes I can help them. They want to live in their little motorhome though and not pay big rent. I can see me checking out all the caravan parks etc to see how I can help them when I do make it back home!

The nice bloke who told me of the free camp when I was needing somewhere to stay.. a worker for the council who took care of the lovely park where I had my ill fated barbecue lol though maybe it was not so ill fated after all eh :P…happened to run across me the day before I left and remembered me and my finger lol.. I was so surprised when he stopped his car, wound down his window and asked me how my finger was doing… that’s just the way they are in Gundagai… real and caring…. if you are ever in the neighbourhood please drop in, you won’t be sorry I bet ….

I ran into my new found friends just once more on our individual journeys. The same day we each left, both of us unbeknownst to the other headed straight for the dog on the tuckerbox about ten k’s north of Gundagai. I saw the sign, chucked a left and headed down to have a look, also to fulfil a wish of my lovely friends who could not come and have some tea in the train carriage a little further along the same road… both at a place called Five Mile.. historical? Oh yes and again worth going though there is not much more there lol….
Anyway I arrived first, no idea they were actually behind me lol… I knew they were headed for Cooma but I had fiddle farted around in town, locating water to refill my water tank and do some last minute shopping lol.. not to mention walking Alex who was seriously pouting because he had been so spoiled the last few days with lots of walks and ball games despite my sore finger.. nope, a day for the road my lad so suck it up lol…when we got to Five Mile I found a park that was just right for us, changed into a skirt as the day had definitely heated up by then and put Alex on the leash. I have to mention that by this time I had given up and bought him a chain leash as he had chewed through three by now and I was fed up with having to replace them! Not sure if I mentioned this in my last post but Alex had chewed through the last one after I tied him up outside the clinic where my finger was stitched.. come to think of it I did sorry about that LOL….

Now I thought I had outsmarted my stubborn boy at last… hahahahaha think again Sandy! This time the little bugger actually managed to break the chain .. grrrrr … and blithely headed straight for the kitchen area of the café. Thankfully the lovely woman who served me there saw him and caught him by the collar. I was pretty mad at him as I marched him back outside and tied a bloody knot in the chain, rousing big time on this boy of mine lol… instead of him getting some of my lovely pie I bought for lunch, I refused to share .. when I look back now I know it wont make a blind bit of difference but hey! I was over it by then :s still pups will be pups and now he is on a stronger one…lets hope this one does the trick!

When I got back I saw the lovely couple and we waved at each other, me heading over to have a laugh at the coincidence. We chatted for a little bit before getting back on the road. We each have the other’s contact details so there was no need to dally when we both so wanted to get on with it lol…

I travelled slowly but surely north, finally torrential rain forced me to pull up in Moss Vale… I will stay here one night, maybe two depending on how I feel. I think all the palarva with my finger tired me more than I gave it credit for and having to play leapfrog with the bloody trucks didn’t help lol.. I know they can go pretty fast and I tend to stick to ninety regardless of hills or downhill runs lol but I have to say you can get fed up with the trucks passing you like a bat out of hell on the downhill runs only to be so damn slow that in order to keep up your own revs you have to then pass them on the uphill runs! Oi vey eh? hehehehe
K so that’s me to date. I hope you are all having a safe and happy weekend..much love xxx
