SWEAT IT OUT

It’s been a steamy summer here,
at last I’ve had my fill;
I’m ready for the cooler nights
though our days are sultry still.

The walk along our beach is
now a sweeter exercise;
I know the sun won’t burn my skin
as I tone my butt and thighs.

Aerobics class holds no appeal
next to the earth’s delights.
I’d rather play amongst the waves
than pay for scary sights.

Imagine if you can with me
the hours I’d endure;
sweating off the cellulite,
believing this the perfect cure.

Beside me hovers other nuts
striving for a svelte size eight;
in hopes that some Adonis will
finally ask them for a date!

They’ve heard the Gym’s the place
to find their one true love, you see;
well I’m here to warn these fools
it’s the last place they should be.

You start a stunning vision
in your tights and leotard;
but before you’re through your class
you’ve sweated off your suave façade..

The ‘glamour puss’ who came to
class is gone without a trace;
a breathless and bedraggled wretch
has come to take her place.

Now should you bump into the man
you’ve dreamed of all your life;
the chances are he’d run in fright,
not want you for his wife.

With this in mind, I stroll along
on the sparkling, soft white sand;
the true me dwells within this shell,
The right man will understand.
