The Ancient Trees’ warning

There dwells a place between heaven and hell;
Where Innocents are murdered: for greed they are felled.
At last one day through their frenzy of lust
The murderers perished; an end that was just.
The planet lay scorched, no life prospered there;
Those who loved Nature had watched with despair.
For Aeons Earth slumbered, undisturbed while she healed;
In the loving embrace of the fae she was sealed.
Once laid to waste for Illusions of wealth,
The Elements’ nurturing brought Her back to health.
Time had no meaning and Her labour was long
But at last She was ready to rejoin Nature’s Song.
Her notes of contentment attracted the throngs
Of innocent creatures and the Righters of Wrongs.
The Midwives tearfully welcomed them all,
The Wise Ones; the Innocents who answered Her calls
Again there was plenty to house and to feed
All the creatures who dwelt here had hearts free of greed.
If Humanity had listened, they’d live here too.
So sad was their fate; yet they knew what to do.
The Earth is a mother whose love gives us life
Yet we ravage Her body, bring sorrow and strife.
This story need not end in Humanity’s demise
If we heed this warning and respond to Her cries.
Hear now the Ancients who live here as Trees
This is your last warning! Choose Life over Greed.
